Howard "Wayne" Brockett

Wayne Brockett passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the age of 93 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born to Grace and Howard Brockett on September 16, 1918 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. He served in the army during World War II and worked at the United States Post Office until retirement.

Before returning to Ft. Wayne six months ago, he lived in Syracuse, Indiana and Naples, Florida.

Preceding him in death was his wife of 66 years, Alice Brockett, and a brother Ronald Brockett.

Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia (Thomas) Herald of Syracuse, IN and Beverly (Gary) Smith of Champaign, IL; four grandchildren, Brent Herald, Nicole (Jeff) Dyson, Sean Smith and Stuart Smith; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Thelma Meriwether of Lakeland, FL and a nephew, David Brockett of Ligonier, IN.

A cremation committal will take place at Legacy Cremation & Remembrance Center in Ligonier. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
