Clayton Earl Preston, age 97, passed away on October 19, 2011 at 10:05 PM at North Ridge Village in Albion.
He was born on July 1, 1914 to Earl & Grace (Wald) Preston in Antwerp, OH. On February 6, 1937 he married Imogene Fought.
Mr. Preston moved to Ligonier in 1950 coming from Antwerp, OH. He was a farmer his entire life and it was his passion. He was also a member of the Ligonier United Methodist Church, a member and officer of Farm Bureau as well as Production Credit Association. Mr. Preston was also a Sunday school teacher and also served as the Sunday school superintendant for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Imogene Preston of Ligonier; five children, Charlene (Sanford) Hooley of Ligonier, Karen (Jerry) Branham of Ligonier, Linda Burns of Orlando, FL, Kevin (Candice) Preston of North Manchester, Robert (Vicki) Preston of Ligonier; 11 grandchildren, Marty (Karen) Leamon, Monty Leamon, Sean (Sonya) Black, Kari Branham, Lorie (Joe) McColgan, Lane (Amy) Baker, Joseph Preston, James Preston, Sadie Preston, Clay Preston, Drew Preston; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Eileen Huebner & Wilma Simon.
There will be a funeral service held in Mr. Preston’s honor on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 2PM at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN with Pastor Byron Kaiser officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, IN.
A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 1-4 PM at Yeager Funeral Home.
