Helen Steele

Helen Steele, age 81, of Ligonier passed away on October 11, 2011 at 5:25 PM at Avalon Village in Ligonier.

She was born on October 1, 1930 to Willie & Lillie M. (Crider) Brickey in Dorchester, VA. On May 3, 1947 she married Junis T. Steele. He preceded her in death on May 23, 2004.

Mrs. Steele was a dedicated and faithful member of the Apostolic Faith Church in Ligonier where she served as the treasurer from its inception in 1982 until 1998. She also served in the church as a Sunday school teacher. Most of all Helen loved her family and the life she was blessed with. She will be deeply missed but always remembered.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Steele of Ligonier; four sons, Glen (Flo) Steele of Ligonier, Gary (Patricia) Steele of Kimmell, Randy Steele of Ligonier, Kevin Steele of Albion; one daughter-in-law, Rita Steele of Kimmell; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Lee Edward (Glenda) Brickey of Cromwell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Thomas Steele; 1 great-granddaughter, Leah Grace Steele; 2 brothers, William Jr. & Jim Ray Brickey; & 1 sister, Jeanette Brickey.

There will be a funeral service held in Mrs. Steele’s honor on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Apostolic Faith Church, 317 Pigeon St., Ligonier, IN 46767 at 10 AM with Pastor Joseph Brickey officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier. Helen’s grandsons will serve as her pallbearers.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday, October 14, 2011 at Yeager Funeral Home-1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767 from 2-6PM. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church.
