Randall L. “Randy” Evans, age 59, of Ligonier passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville, IN. He was born on April 5, 1952 to Lowell & Maxine (Redden) Evans in Warsaw, IN. On April 10, 1972 he married Alexina Chasing Hawk, she survives.
Randy served his country honorably as a crew chief in the United States Air Force from 1971-1977. He moved back to the area in 1987 from South Dakota and for the last 24 years he has worked as a livestock trucker. He was also the owner & operator of the Tack Shack in Ligonier. Randy enjoyed horseback riding & loved people.
He is survived by his wife, Alexina “Alex” Evans of Ligonier; a son, Randall J. Evans of Ligonier; and one grandson, Brandon Evans. He was preceded in death by a daughter, LaDonna Evans on May 4, 2001.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 10 AM at Maple Grove Church in Topeka with Pastor Barry St. Clair officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in Goshen, IN where military honors will be conducted. Pallbearers are Dallas Martin, Keith Lambright, Dwight Ramer, Gary Yoder, Troy Blair & Jerry Lambright.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2011 from 4-8 PM & on Friday, August 5, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Maple Grove Church in Topeka. Memorials may be directed to Maple Grove Church.
