James Franklin Hewitt

James Franklin Hewitt, age 84, of Kimmell, IN passed away Sunday June 19, 2011at his residence following an extended illness. He was born October 5, 1927 in Elkhart, IN to Lee & Leafa Mae (Locke) Hewitt. He was married to his bride of 44 years, Helga Brathearing, she survives.

He retired as a sergeant from the United States Army after 20 years of honorable service. His tenure included serving in the Korean War. In his retirement he enjoyed wood working & fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Helga Hewitt of Kimmell, 1 daughter, Leona Gordon of Larwill; 1 step-daughter, Manuela Coburn of North Webster; 4 grandchildren, Cody, Nicole, Justin, & JR. He was preceded in death by his parents & 5 siblings.

A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, IN on Wednesday June 22, 2011 at 2 PM with Dr. Gordon Rankin officiating.
