Danny B. Smith

Danny B. Smith, age 74, of Ligonier, IN passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at his residence. He was born on January 17, 1937 to John T. & Ethel (Pepple) Smith in Wawaka, IN. On June 16, 1956 he married Shirley L. Altimus in Green Center, IN. She preceded him in death on April 25, 2011.

Mr. Smith was a lifetime area farmer and had worked as a mechanic for Truelove Brothers of Albion, JA Miller and Son of Wakarusa, & Noble County Highway Dept. He recently enjoyed driving truck for Champion Homes. Danny was a member of the Indiana Tractor Pulling Association and was honored in 2010 for 60 years of membership. He had served as a 4H leader for many years and enjoyed bowling, tractor pulling, & farming.

He is survived by 3 children, Bill (Deb) Smith of Wawaka, Judy (Brian) Reeve of Ligonier, & Bob (Sharon) Smith of LaGrange; 9 grandchildren, Tom, Tonya, Tessa, Christina, Lisa, Tiffany, Erin, Lyle, & Lauren; 5 great grandchildren, Ashley, Ethan, Patrick, Courtney, & Evelyn; 1 brother, Jack (Eunice) Smith of Royalton, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley Smith; and a stillborn great granddaughter, Adarah.

A funeral service will be held in Mr. Smith’s honor on Thursday June 16, 2011 at 10 Am at Yeager Funeral Home- 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN with Pastor Jim Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Cosperville Cemetery in Cosperville, IN.

There will be a time of visitation on Wednesday June 15, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Yeager Funeral Home.
