Wayne Massey, age 59, of Bear Lake near Albion, IN passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at his residence. He was born on December 3, 1951 to Lewis Leon & Mary Ellen (Dunlap) Massey in Kokomo, IN.
He served his country honorably during Vietnam in the United States Army from 1971-73. Wayne was an avid outdoorsman to say the least. He was an excellent woodworker, hunter, fisherman, and gardener and was able to fix or build anything. He was a drag racing enthusiast, a gun collector, a member of numerous organizations, and was a staple in the community.
He is survived by 3 sons: Jason (Elizabeth) Massey of Fort Wayne, Matthew (Heather) Massey of Ligonier, & Michael (Brittany) Massey of Greenwood, IN. 4 grandchildren, Nicoya, Ryan, Cameron, & Aubray. His mother, Mary Ellen Massey of Kokomo, IN. 1 brother, Roger (Debbie) Massey of Russiaville, IN, 1 sister, Debbie (Jeff) Denny of Kokomo, IN.
A Graveside service will be held at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, IN on Friday June 10, 2011 at 1 PM. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Yeager funeral Home in Ligonier. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tri- County Fish and Wildlife Area- 8432 N. 850 E. Syracuse, IN 46567.
