Ladonna (Ness) Schroeder

LaDonna (Ness) Schroeder, age 71, of Ligonier, IN passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 3:15 AM at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville. She was born on February 7, 1940 in Whitley County to Edward Peter & Florence (Harkenrider) Ness. On February 23, 1963, she married Alva Eugene Schroeder. He preceded her in death on February 28, 1989.

Mrs. Schroeder was a lifetime area resident and graduated from Larwill High School. She worked for Freudenberg in Ligonier, as a nurse’s aid at Strawberry Village Nursing Home in Ligonier, Greencroft Nursing Home in Goshen, Creps Bakery, catered for Archer Auctions and Jake Bitner Auctions, and clerked at Shipshewana Auction.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ligonier where she was involved with the Rosary Sodality and taught Sunday school. Other activities included: the Lady Bug Extension Homemakers in Noble County, Hannah & Hildred Hat Show, 4-H leader in Noble and Whitley Counties, and was a previous member of St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church in Columbia City. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking and square dancing.

Survivors include three daughters, Tammy (Keith) Helfers of Syracuse, Polly (George) Beasley of Millersburg, Abby Schroeder of Ligonier; three sons, Matt (Amy) Schroeder of Kimmell, Jeremiah Schroeder of Kendallville, Nathan (Denise) Schroeder of Syracuse; fourteen grandchildren; and one sister, Ardella (Bernie) Reust of Huntington. She was preceded by her husband, parents; two brothers, Lloyd Ness of Cromwell, Gene (Marge) Ness of Columbia City; and one grandchild, Elizabeth Schroeder.

A funeral mass will be held in Mrs. Schroeder’s honor on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 300 Ravine Park Drive, Ligonier, IN with Father Wilson Corzo officiating. Interment will be in Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 3, 2011 from 2-8 PM at Yeager Funeral Home in Ligonier. A rosary service will be held at 8PM following the visitation.
