Gerald Lee "Jerry" Waldron

October 16, 1942 — April 24, 2011

Gerald Lee “Jerry” Waldron, age 68, of Ligonier passed away on April 24, 2011 at 9 PM in his residence following a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of Bette (Pratt) Smith & Carnie Lewis Waldron. He was born on October 16, 1942 in Kendallville, IN. He married Charlotte Coffelt on October 21, 1967 in Ligonier, IN.

He graduated from Cromwell High School in 1960 and went on to serve his country in the United States Army from 1960-64. During his tenure in the Army he was stationed in Germany serving as a Military Policeman. He had a passion for softball, playing fast pitch softball for over 32 years. He had also coached the West Noble High School Girls Softball Team. He retired as a human resource manager from Flex Steel in New Paris in 2008 after nearly twenty years of service.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Charlotte Waldron of Ligonier; three children, Stephanie (Chris) Holland of Taylorsville, NC, Christopher Waldron of Ligonier and Angela (Joel) Beers of Kimmell; five grandchildren, Alle, Aubrie, Culver, Zachary & Isabella all at home; his mother, Bette Smith of Sarasota, FL; two brothers, Ronald (Betty) Waldron of Murfreesboro, TN and Steve (Kay) Kaufman of Fort Wayne; and two step sisters. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Mike Waldron.

A memorial service in Jerry’s honor will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 1PM at Yeager Funeral Home- 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767 with Celebrant Larry Baker officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from 5-8PM and 1 hour prior to the memorial service on Thursday.
