Shirley Swartz

Shirley Swartz, age 73, of Ligonier, IN passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 11:02 PM at Goshen Hospital after an extended battle with cancer.

She was born on July 23, 1937 to Ozro Leon Hutchings & Alma (Petree) Hutchings-Gunter in Noble County. On February 17, 1956 she married Ronald Swartz. He survives.

Mrs. Swartz was a dedicated homemaker and had worked for Wirk Garment Factory as well as Monsanto. She was a member of the Ligonier United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Swartz of Ligonier; four children, Teresa McLaughlin of Wabash, IN, Tona (Rich) Chupp of Ligonier, Tracy Swartz of Ligonier, Tana Smith of Ligonier; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; two siblings, Estella (David) Spradlin of Mason, OH, Steve (Judy) Hutchings of Urbana, OH; and five step-brothers, Ronald, Richard, Rick and Roger DeBolt and Dave Gunter. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-parents, one great-granddaughter, one brother and two step-brothers.

A funeral service will be held in Mrs. Swartz's honor on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 2:00 PM at The Crosswalk at Ligonier United Methodist Church, 466 Townline Rd., Ligonier, IN with Pastor Byron Kaiser officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier.

A time of visitation will be held on Monday, April 11, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Yeager Funeral Home in Ligonier.
