Roy D. Mynhier

January 19, 1933 — February 13, 2011

Roy D. Mynhier, age 78, of Ligonier, IN passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 at his residence. He was born on January 19, 1933 in Kimmell to Joseph & Eva (Hunt) Mynhier. On December 15, 1953 he married Judy Zarse in Cromwell, IN. She preceded him in death in 1997.

Roy graduated from Cromwell High School and played on the championship basketball team. The team picture remains on display at the Sports Hall of Fame in New Castle, IN. Mr. Mynhier retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company after over thirty years of service. He was an active member of the community and served on the park’s department board, a volunteer fireman for many years, played softball for the fire department and coached little league baseball for over 10 years. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Cubs and the Colts.

He was also a member of the Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Elks and National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. Mr. Mynhier was appointed to the counsel to the Attorney General in 1987 as a result of his hard work and loyalty to the Republican Party.

Surviving are his three children, Kirby A. (Charms) Mynhier of Burlington, KY, T. Scott (Lana) Mynhier of Vicksburg, MI, Annie Ranly & her companion Mark Caldwell of Ligonier, IN; six grandchildren, Andrea, Andrew, Hunter and Chase Mynhier, Tanner Ranly and Angela Caldwell; one brother, Robert (Clara) Mynhier of Cresap Town, PA; he was preceded in death by his wife, his parents; one brother, Joseph Myhnhier; and three sisters, Mildred Rigel, Pauline Horine, & Lucille Freeman.

A funeral service will be held in Mr. Mynhier’s honor on Friday February 18, 2010 at 10:30 am at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, 111 W. Orange St., Cromwell, IN with Sister Elsie Fregeau officiating. Burial will be in Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, IN.

There will be a time of visitation on Thursday February 17 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Yeager Funeral Home- 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767 and from 10 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the funeral service on Friday. Memorial contributions are to Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 398, Cromwell, IN 46732.
