Dan C. Routsong

Dan C. Routsong, age 69, of McAllen, TX, formerly of Albion, IN passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011 at his residence. He was born on September 4, 1941 in Sturgis, MI to George W. & Eunice (Garlets) Routsong. On December 24, 1976 he married G. Joan Cox.

Mr. Routsong graduated from Cromwell High School in 1960. He then went on to serve his country honorably in United States Army from 1962-66 & was a Vietnam veteran. After returning from the service he went to work for B & O Railroad which eventually became CSX Railway. He was with the company for over 39 years as a Brakeman and Conductor based out of Garrett, IN. He was a member of the Elks and the American Legion in Ligonier. He also enjoyed Fort Wayne Komets hockey, racecars, going to auctions and was a faithful member of the Dari Point Social Club. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family whom he loved dearly.

Surviving are his wife, Joan Routsong of McAllen, TX; three children, Mike (Millisa) Burdette of Ligonier, Robin (Matt) Moser of Wawaka, Brent Holloway of McAllen, TX; twelve grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Mitchell and Marcus Burdette, Brittany, Brooke and Grant Moser, Audri and Austin Moore, Abby, Mandy and Ashlynn Erwin; two special nieces, Penny (Clay) Moore of Albion, Jenifer Rodriguez Erwin of Syracuse; four sisters, Mary (Ron) Anthony of Woodburn, Carol Jean (Pablo) Arellano of Florida, Julia Routsong of Wawaka and Gale (Paul) Riley of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Paul Riley.

A funeral service will be held in Mr. Routsong’s honor on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 11 AM at Yeager Funeral Home- 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767 with Celebrant Larry Baker officiating. Burial will take place at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, IN.

Pallbearers will be Joe Zborowski, Michael Burdette, Mitchell Burdette, Matt Moser, Pablo Arellano and Mario Gutierrez.

There will be a time of visitation on Friday, January 7, 2011 from 2-8 PM at the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday.
