Anthony Max Zimmerman

Anthony Max Zimmerman, age 86, of rural Ligonier, passed away at Northridge Village in Albion on Friday, December 31, 2010.

He was born on October 16, 1924 to Clyde & Eva (Billman) Zimmerman in Elkhart County. On May 3, 1946 he married Donnabelle Chiddister in Franklin, IN.

Mr. Zimmerman was a lifetime area resident. He was a farmer early in life, and worked with his brother as an equipment operator for Zimmerman Excavating in Fort Wayne until retirement. He enjoyed his family, rural life, gardening and watching Purdue basketball. He was known for growing pumpkins and his tasty sweet corn.

Surviving are his children, M. Dean Zimmerman (Chris) of West Point, IN, Rick G. Zimmerman of Hudson, IN, Gene A. Zimmerman of Ligonier, IN, Kelly J. (Bob) Kelley of Rome City, IN; and a brother, Robert J. Zimmerman.

Also surviving are three grandchildren, Ryan Zimmerman of Augusta, GA; Erin McLaughlin of Gainsville, FL; and Evan Zimmerman of Clarks Hill, IN; three great-grandchildren and a family friend, Eric Sebahar, of Rome City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother, James L. Zimmerman.

A funeral service will be held in Mr. Zimmerman’s honor on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier.

A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2011 from 2-5 PM at Yeager Funeral Home & 1 hour prior to the service on Monday.
